Zinc is considered the most abundant trace intracellular element. It’s an
essential component/cofactor for more than 200 enzymes involved in the
synthesis and metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids,
etc. In particular, this element is a cofactor of numerous proteins involved
in the defense against oxidative stress and DNA damage repair.
Citrate anion plays a central role in the Krebs’ cycle as it is gradually
modified by different enzymes to produce cell energy. It is another important
element for number of body metabolisms like glycolysis.
